5G-NR-V2X Use Cases in Cooperative Driving

Cooperative driving system (CDS) associates driving automation technology with 5G-NR based vehicle to everything communication (V2X) in order to coordinate the vehicles using a common overall knowledge of their surroundings. Evolution of 5G-NR from LTE enables new use cases for CDS providing better driving experience, safety, and traffic efficiency. This paper reviews CDS in general and focuses on how 5G-NR-V2X is enabling the CDS technologies under different scenarios. Finally, we go over the upcoming challenges of 5G-NR-V2X based CDS and the possible solutions.
