Morphological Change of Extraocular Muscle (EOM) after Blunt Orbital Trauma : Correlation with functional Impairment of EOM

Purpose; To known the CT findings of EOM change after blunt orbital trauma and to evaluate the incidence and significance of EOM change on functional impairment of EOM. Results; Of 103 cases 58 cases (56.3%) showed orbit fracture. Morphological changes of EOM were cases without orbit fracture. Of 46 cases of EOM changes 28 cases were group I, 9 cases were group II and 9 cases were group III, Functional impairment of EOM were noted in 22 cases with orbit cases (0.4%) of group 0, 11 cases (39.9%) of group I, 5 cases (55.6%) of group II, and 6 cases (66.7%) of group III functional impairment were noted. Functional impairment of EOM were significantly increased in group II and III (p<0.001). Conclusion; Morphological changes of EOM were frequently occured in orbit fracture (74.1%). Functional impairments of EOM were significantly increased in beaking of EOM (66.7%).
