WO3 nanostructures were synthesized by thermal evaporation. The influence of substrate temperature on the morphology, crystal structure, and photoluminescence properties of the WO3 nanowires were investigated in a temperature range from 500 to 930 oC. The morphology of WO3 nanowires tends to change from one-dimensional nanostructure to a three-dimensional thin film via agglomerates as the substrate temperature increases. The intensity of the major emission from the WO3 nanostructures tends to increase as the substrate temperature increases from 500 to 680 oC, but it tends to decrease with continued increases in the substrate temperature from 680 to 930 oC. In addition, the mechanisms of the changes of the morphologies and PL properties of WO3 nanostructures with substrate temperature are discussed.
