초록

Production and biomass data of the manila clam Ruditapes philippinarum were studied from two intertidal stations in Seonjae-Do tidal flat of the West coast of Korea. The monthly sampling was carried out using a 10cm x 10cm quadrat with five to 10 replicates from September 2008 to August 2009. The clams collected were measured and analyzed for the following variables: shell length, wet weight, and flesh weight. Results from two stations (A and B) showed that the annual production was 5,197gWWt/㎡/yr, and 8,064gWWt/㎡/yr by wet weight in two stations respectively but 1,211gWWt/㎡/yr, and 1,853gWWt/㎡/yr based on the flesh wet weight. These high estimations seem to result from the high growth rate and density of the manila clams in this region.
