초록

This study was conducted to investigate recognition and purchasing behavior on processed foods. The subjects of this survey consisted of 466 office workers(male: 258, female:208) in Seoul, whose ages 20~39 years old and the data were collected in March 2010. This study was carried out by self-administered questionnaires method and the questionnaires included questions regarding purchasing behaviors, use of food labels, and recognition on processed foods. More than 70% of the subjects purchased processed food more than once per week and "Instant noodles' and 'dairy products' were most frequently purchased. Time saving was the biggest reason of using processed food. Subjects checked the labels of processed food in the following order; expiration date, food price, food company and the nutrition label was checked the least. Females payed more attention to the labels of food than male. Most of subjects showed that their satisfaction in overall processed food is over "normal". However, Seventy two point nine percent of male and 83.2% of female workers thought "processed food is hazard on health" (p<0.05). In question related environmental hormone of processed food case, 35.6% of male and 18.3% of female workers answered wrong or 'don't know'(p<0.001). Therefore, it is necessary to develop nutrition program for office workers to provide proper information regarding processed food hazard and nutrition label.
