Roles and Responsibilities of CSAT Exam Committee

In this talk, I will discuss about the roles and responsibilities of the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) Exam Committee. The CSAT has been arguably regarded as one of the largest and most important public exams in Korea. Accordingly, the CSAT Exam Committee members, who consist of university professors and high-school teachers, take significant responsibilities. They need to create questions that are strictly based on the curriculum, of an appropriate level of difficulty, and free of errors. They must ensure that students achieve results commensurate with their efforts through fair and discriminatory questions. Most importantly and most stressfully, they need to do make exam questions confidentially while staying in a strictly isolated environment until the exam is over. While the work of creating questions for CSAT exam is so demanding, I want to stress out that such a job should be done with a sense of duty that the direction of Korean education and the future of students can be significantly influenced by the CSAT Exam Committee. They also have a responsibility to contribute to the normalization of public education of each subject, which is what all of us have to care.
