Design of the Linear Regulator with a Wide Input Range

This paper proposes the Linear Regulator with a wide input range that are suitable for a variety of applications such as automotive CMOS chips requiring 12V to 24V power supply, and even controller of LED lighting instruments which needs a high-voltage power supply as high as 20V and above. The proposed linear regulator is implemented with a 0.35um BCDMOS process, has 6V to 40V input voltage, and generates 3.3V output voltage. The regulator can deliver 200-mA load current. It has minimum 0.7mA quiescent current at 6V input voltage .
