Study on the Optimization of IPS-LCDs by 3-dimensional Simulation

초록

In this paper, we carried out 3-demensional simulation to extract the optimal design conditions of IPS-LCDs. In describing the motional equation of liquid crystal molecules, we adopt tensorial representation instead of conventional vectorial form. As a numerical technique, we used a finite difference method (FDM) which is suitable for highly nonlinear and complicated problems. From the results, we confirmed that rubbing angle of 22.5°and electrode space of 10 um shows high transmittance, fast response time, and low driving voltage.
