Abstract?In this paper, we propose a zero correlation durationultra wideband (ZCD-UWB) wireless communication system based on the direct sequence - ultra wideband (DS-UWB) scheme and special spreading sequences with zero correlation duration (ZCD) characteristics [1]. Especially, in this paper, we propose the Ternary ZCD-UWB communication system having novel interference-cancellation property. After constructing an enhanced ternary ZCD sequence and mathematical model for a ZCD-UWD wireless system, we present theoretical bit error rate (BER) performance. By using computer simulation, we verify high system capacity of the proposed system and superior performance to the conventional Walsh-based DS-UWB systems in multi-path and in multiple access environments. At last, we show that the proposed system can remove interference signal perfectly without employing complicated hardware such as multi user detection (MUD) or other interference cancellation techniques.
