Flashing Light Effect on High-Density Algal Cultures
초록
It has been reported that flashing light enhances microalgal biomass productivity and photosynthetic efficiency. The oxygen production rates and specific growth rates under flashing light were compared with those under equivalent continuous light, using a specially designed illumination couvettes. The oxygen product rate in flashing light was 10-15% higher than that under continuous light. The increase in photosynthetic efficiency was peaked at 10 to 20 kHz flashing light with 20% duty cycle, which was a clear indication of flashing light effect at high density algal cultures. The enhancement could be verified by simple mathematical calculations.
