The frequency of histopathologies diagnosed on surgical specimens of ovarian tumors
초록
Objective: To know the frequency of histopathologies diagnosed on surgical specimens for removal of ovarian tumors Methods: We reviewed the charts of patients who undergone oophorectomies for their tumors of ovaries from May of 1996 to August of 2004 in Dept of OB/GYN in Inha University Hospital. And we allocated the results to benign borderline and malignant tumors Results: There were 822 patients undergone oophorectomies 666 patients(81.0%) had benign, 36(4.4%) had borderline 103(12.5%) had malignant tumors and only 17 (2.1%) had nonneoplastic tumors. Among 666 benign tumors, there were 321 teratomas (48.2%), 149 mucinous cystadenomas (22.4%), 129 serous cystadenomas(19.4%),43 thecofibromas(6.5%) and 11 mixed epithelial tumors (1.7%). Among 36 borderline tumors, there were 19 mucinous tumors(52.8%) and 17 serous tumors(47.2%) Among 103 malignant tumors, there wee 26 metastatic tumors(25.2%) 26 serous tumors(25.2%) 19 mucinous tumors(18.4%), 8 mixed epithelial tumors (7.8%) and 6 endometrioid tumors (5.8%) Among 17 non-neoplastic tumors, there were 7 corpus luteal cysts (41.2%)6 follicular cysts (35.3%) and 4 normal ovaries (23.5%) Conclusion: There were 822 patients undergone oophorectomies 666 patients (81.0%) had benign, 36(4.4%) had borderline, 103(12.5%) had malignant tumors and only 17(2.1%) had nonneoplastic tumors.
