Numerical strain state analysis on the dissimilar channel angular pressing by rolling

This paper provides the numerical modelling of the dissimilar channel angular pressing(DCAP) by single pass rolling and analyzes the DCAP process using a rigid-plastic two-dimensional finite element method. The deformation of AA1100 sheet in the DCAP process was composed of three distinct process of rolling, bending and shearing. The pronounced difference in the friction conditions on the upper and lower roll surfaces led to the different variation of shear strain component throughout the thickness of the aluminum sheet. Strain accompanying bending was negligible because of a large radius of curvature. The shear deformation was concentrated at the corner of the DCAP-channel where the abrupt change in the direction of material flow occurred. Highlights in this study are given to the proper numerical analysis model for investigating the effect of strain state in Aluminum sheets during DCAP process by single pass rolling.
