Ultra Wideband systems impose a high demand on the timing jitter performance in the system because of using the low duty cycle subnanosecond pulses in the communication. However, in practical systems, timing jitter can not be eliminated absolutely, and the performance of the system is impacted. In this paper, we investigated the effect of the timing jitter to the UWB TH systems and designed a novel receiver template to reduce the impact of timing jitter. This template is corresponded to the timing jitter distribution in the receiver but not original transmission pulses to increase the jitter robust performance. The signal model of this template is offered and the performance improvement in different UWB modulation systems is given. The simulation results show that the scheme we proposed is better than the schemes used originally in TH PAM and TH PPM systems.
