Comparative Study of Outcomes between Shunting after Cranioplasty and in Cranioplasty after Shunting in Large Concave Flaccid Cranial Defect with Hydrocephalus
초록
Objetive : The cranioplasty and VP shunt op have been used to treat a large cranial defect with hydrocephalus. However, there are no reports about the difference between in the shunting after the cranioplast(Gr I) and the cranioplasty after the shunting(Gr II) in a large flaccid cranial defect wth hydrocephalus. Method; This study was retrospectively reviewed 23 pts undergoing the cranioplasty and VP shunt after the decompresssive craniectomy fot refractory ICP from 2002 to 2005. Results ; According to GCS, neurological conditions in 6 of 10 pts(60%) in Gr I and 5 of 13 pts(38.5%) in Gr II were improved 6 months later. However , the improvement of GOS in Gr I was seen in 8(80%) of 10 pts and 8 of 13 pts(61.5%) in Gr II. Conclusion ; These results suggested that clinical outcomes in Gr I may be a little better than Gr II for large flaccid concave cranial defect with hydrocephalus, but no significance statistically
