Hardness of Yittria-Stabilized-Zirconia Film Deposited on STS304 by Aerosol Deposition Method
초록
Zirconia is one of the structural ceramic material that can be applied to various fields. It revealed various mechanical properties depending on crystal structure of Zirconia. When Y2O3 was doped into ZrO2, depending on the amount of doping ZrO2 shows the different phases. 3 and 8 mol% Y2O3 doped ZrO2 showed tetragonal and cubic phase, respectively. In this experiment, aerosol deposition (AD) technique was applied to deposit the Ziconia on the surface of STS304 metal to improve the hardness. As AD is a room-temperature process based on shockloading solidification resulting from the collision of fine ceramic particles on a substrate, the nano-sized grains can be deposited on metal without occurring the oxidation of metal surface. In addition, due to the extremely strong impact imparts the phase change of the YSZ. Zirconia films were formed on STS 304 by AD using two kinds of YSZ with different phases. Coating layers was deposited with strong adhesion showing dense structure with ~5µm thickness. Crystal structure of the films was analyzed with X-ray diffraction and hardness was measured by nano indentor. Comparing the SUS304 of 7GPa, zirconia coating enhanced the hardness of 11.5 GPa.
