Development of an Augmented Reality System for Construction Operation Management

This study presents an AR system, “ARPad” tailored to supervision, commenting, and strategizing which are tasks related to construction operation management. The paper introduces the ARPad, explains its technical issues, and describes the system development. In the near future, the experiments with the ARPad to verify the benefits of AR for supervision, commenting, and strategizing in construction will be conducted. The adoption of AR in construction will be facilitated by demonstrating the benefits. Also, with the development of ARpad, it is expected to secure the basic technologies of AR systems for construction operation management.
