This paper presents the implementation and analysis of a 4-bit cyclic redundancy check (CRC) design for the SENT protocol, to identify data errors up to four bits in size. The proposed CRC design for the vehicular interconnect can operate at 1 MHz with a low power consumption of 1.6 μW at 1 V supply voltage. When the proposed CRC schemes are applied to the modern single-edge nibble transmission (SENT) interface for automotive applications, the data reliability and secured data transactions between sensors and electric control units (ECUs) can be improved. The proposed CRC encoders and decoders for the SENT Interface can significantly increase the key performance of data reliability and error detection capabilities. © 2024 IEEE.
