Quantum theory of Optical Near-Fields: Example study of Dielectric Micro-sphere

A general quantization scheme of the electromagnetic fields in dielectrics is presented. In the existence of a dielectric sphere, in- plus out-going spherical modes satisfying the boundary conditions and orthonormality conditions are obtained. These modes are used to expand the planar plus scattered spherical modes.
