Analysis of Voltage and Current Harmonics on Low-voltages

In this paper, the aspect and distribution of voltage and current harmonics being made in low-voltage power systems are presented. The voltage and current harmonics in power systems supplying various loads were analyzed. As a result, the current harmonics were significantly greater than the voltage harmonics. In particular, the harmonics of currents flowing through loads with power switching electronics were pronounced. Also, the THD of current harmonics of street lamp circuits was about 37%, and it was decreased to 9.8% with the installation of the specially designed series reactor. The distortion factors of voltage and current harmonics on the low-voltage power lines supplying common loads exceed the regulation limits recommended by IEEE Std 519-1992
