Spectrophotometric determination of Uranium(VI) with pyrocatechol violet in surfactant media

Pyrocatechol violet or pyrocatechol sulfonaphthalin, a dye in the triphenylmethane series has been used for spetrophotometric determination of aluminum and others. The utility of pyrocathecholviolet for spectrophotometric determination of uranium is reported rarely. In this paper , the reaction of uranium with pyrocatechol violet and also the ternary complex involving cationic surfactant have been studied. The method developed was applied to the analysis of complex matrices to uranium.
