초록
This paper presents a new type of ER damper system which does not require external power sources. After evaluating the field-dependent Bingham property of Er fluid an appropriate size of ER damper is designed and manufactured. The excitation motion on the damper is converted into electric energy and stored in the battery. In this process, a generator is employed. The stored energy is applied for generating damping forces of the ER damper. The energy efficiency is evaluated by observing field-dependent damping forces.
