A New Catalyst for BTCA in Durable Press Finish

Sodium hypophosphite is the most successful catalyst for 1,2,3,4-butanetetracarboxylic acid(BTCA) for durable press of cotton. But it is expensive and causes the effluent problems in the rivers or lakes due to the phosphorus content. The purpose of this study is to find out a substituted catalyst for BTCA not containing thr phosphorus and whose performance is comparable to that of sodium hypophosphite.
