초록

Crystalline calcium phosphate cement have been used as bone substitutes. They are biocompatible, but the major drawbacks of this cement are low strength and slower reaction to bone cell. Glass bone cement in the system of CaO-SiO2-P2O5, has also been introduced. The glass powder was mixed with ammonium phosphate solution to make cement. This glass cement showed high bioactivity as well as an excellent compressive strength. When implanted, however, the glass cement release lots of ammonia gases, which might be harmful to living cells. In this study, hardening and hydroxyapatite (HAP) formation behavior of the bioactive cements in the system of CaO-SiO2-P2O5 glasses and the corresponding glass-ceramics were studies
