Suppression of Polarization Dependence in the Design of an Arrayed -Waveguide Grating with Photodefinable Polyimde

We report on the effective means of suppressing polarization dependence in the design simulation of anarrayed wavegudie grating made of photodefinable polyimide. The polarization dependence of an arrayed waveguide grating device for a dense WDM system was excellently suppressed by controlling the grating order fro an appropriate index difference between TE and TM polyimide.
