Measurement of consumption efficiency with the Luenberger directional distance function

This paper presents the concept of consumption efficiency and its sources. In order to measure consumption efficiency we used the benefit function of Luenberger (1992) and its duality property. By discussing two cases for the occurrence of consumption efficiency we employed the DEA framework in measuring consumption efficiency. For illustrative purposes a set of examples are provided.
