A first-principles study on magnetism of Ni overlayer on Ta(110)

초록

The magnetic properties of metal overlayers on noble metal or transition metal substrates have attracted extensive attraction [1]. There has also been a lot of calculations on transition metal surfaces [2]. It is known that the refractory metal Ta is reluctant to be mixed with overlayer materials [3]. The effect of overlayer structure and electronic density on CO chemisorption for Ni deposited Ta(110) was investigated by using angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy [4]. However, magnetic properties for the deposited Ni layer on Ta(110) were not studied to our knowledge. In this report, we present results of our study on surface magnetism of Ni overlayer on Ta(110) by using the full-potential linearized augmented plane wave (FLPW) method [5]. 1. A. J.
