irculating of locally produced growth factors have been implicated in controversy about proper timing of mastectomy during the menstruation cycle in breast cancer patients. We thus investigated the serum levels of angiogenic factors in pre-(14), post-menopause(20) and male(24) healthy volunteers. And we compared these levels to those of the operable breast cancer patients(34). In pre-meno-pause women, blood was sampled on the first day of the menstruation and weekly thereafter until the next cycle of menstruation. Ovulation period was determined by FSH and LH levels. A sandwich ELISA kits (R&D) were used.
