Lumostatic operation of bubble column photobioreactors for efficient cultivation of Haematococcus pluvialis

초록

This study proposes lumostatic operation of maintaining constant light condition by controling a value of specific rate of light uptake (qe). As a model system, bubble-column photobioreactor was constructed and used for mass cultivation of Haematococcus pluvialis. Lumostatic operations were conducted at two levels of specific rate of light uptatke (qe = 3×10-8 and 6×10-8 μE/(cell.s)) and compared with a control experiment (I0 = 90 μE/(m2.s)). The most favorable results for H. pluvilais cell growth were observed at the light condition of qe = 3×10-8 μE/(cell.s). These results indicate that lumostatic operation is a efficient light supplying methods in microalgal mass cultivation.
