Intraoperative imprint cytology of follicular dendritic cell sarcoma of the abdominal lymph node

Intraoperative consultation of oncologic specimen is commonly accompanied by evaluation of smears obtained by touch imprint or scrape preparation, which can provide significant diagnostic clues. We present a case of a patient with follicular dendritic cell(FDC) sarcoma of the abdominal lymph node which was initially diagnosed on evaluation of intraoperative imprint smears. Variable cytologic features of this rare neoplasm can be erroneously imterpreted for poorly differentiated carcinoma.
