Copyright Case Law Development - Korean Perspective

Korea has enacted Copyright Act in 1957, then the protection term for copyright was life plus 30 years. In 1986, Copyright Act was totally revised withe the ratification of teh UCC, which was the first international treaty Korea joined. Then copyright preotection term was lengthened to life plus 50 years, and neighboring rights were introduced with the term of 20 years. Sinec then Copyright Act has been revised very often, mainly to grant new rights and to fortify criminal penalties for infringement.
