ER/MR Fluids Charactgerization at High Frequencies

The evaluation of high requency charactristics of MR and ER fluids is necessary in many smart structure applications. The characterization of ER/MR fluids is experimentally performed in the frequency range of 50Khz-100Khz. The investigated storage modulus of MR fluid is in the range of 1.65 Gpa to 1.8Gpa when the magnetic field is orthogonal to the wave propagation direction. It is linearly increased with the frequency in the range. The range of loss factor for the tested MR fluid is 0.1-0.2.
