A Presentation Agent for Multilingual Services

We need an advanced information system which can present data in multiple languages for worldwide demand and supply of information. Thus, this paper divides an information system into two kinds of parts, one is language independent part and the other is language dependent part. The language independent parts , such as numerical and logical algorithms and database management systems, are designed commonly regardless of the user's language. And the language dependent parts, such as user interfaces of input and output modules, screen drivers, are designed separately according to the user's language. To support a multilingual information system, a Presentation Agent is proposed in this paper. And, in the Presentation Agent, input and output of data are converted from target language into system(meta) language and vice versa by word-to-word in the case of vocabulary based information. Finally, we realized a simple prototype information system which supports multiple languages for the world wide services.
