Controlled radical polymerization of vinyl acetate in the presence of alkyl iodides

Controlled radical polymerization of vinyl acetate, initiated by N,N-azobisisobutyronitrile in the presence of several alkyl iodides has been investigated. Living nature of the system, i.e., achievement of 100% conversion, fairly good agreement between number average molecular weight of the resulting polymer with theoretical value, which is calculated from the molar ratio of monomer and alkyl iodide when tridecafluoro n-hexyl iodide was used.
