초록

The purpose of this research is to examine (1) the changing pattern of life-satisfaction and academic, (2) the formation of life-satisfaction and academic grade, and (3) the influence of life-satisfaction on an academic achievement. This study first examines how life-satisfaction has changed from elementary students to junior high students. This longitudinal research have traced participants from elementary school sixth-grade to eighth-grade students (Park et al., 1999). A total of 962 elementary students (Males=480, Females=482) participated in the first year in 1997. Among these students, a total of 778 junior high school students (Males=367, Females=411) participated in the third year in 2000. The results are as follows. First, as the elementary students moved up to junior high their life-satisfaction decreased. Second, the social support and self-efficacy are found to be the main predictors of life-satisfaction. Third, self-efficacy is found to be the mediating variables of social support and life-satisfaction. Finally, self-efficacy is found to be an important factor in determining the adolescents' academic achievement.
