Study for Numerical Model of Thermal Effect by High Speed and Temperature Jet

This study has analyzed the heat transfer phenomena of the deck plate structures subjected to the high - temperature impingement exhausting from the VTOL. The heat flow of the impingement on the plate is modeled by the convection heat transfer. The convective heat flux generated by the hot impinging jet is investigated by using both convective heat transfer formulation and conjugate heat transfer formulation. As the impinging jet velocity increases and the Reynolds number increases, the conjugate heat transfer (CHT) formulation gives more reasonable results rather than the convective heat transfer. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code was used for the numerical investigation. The RANS equation and the k-e turbulence model were used to analyze the heat flow of impinging jet. The temperature distribution obtained from the conjugated heat transfer analysis is reasonable in that it is high in the stagnation region. The temperature distribution, thermal stress and thermal deformation were predicted by applying the heat flux obtained from the conjugate heat transfer analysis to the plate structure.
