Resonance Characteristics of Waveguide-coupled Polyimide Microring Resonator

Proceedings of International Conference on Photo-responsive Organics and Polymers 2001, (Cheju Island, Korea August 19-25, 2001) We present simulation study on the resonance characteristics of waveguide-coupled photodefinable polyimide microring resonators. Microring resonators coupled to the waveguides provide compact, narrow band, and large free spectral range. The excitation input into the FDTD was Sinc function in the time domain and the transmitted output displayed characteristic peaks corresponding to the resonance wavelengths. We obtained the coupling efficiency of 55% and the free spectral range of 35nm, which are excellent values.
