Convergence education in engineering schools

초록

Convergence education covers wider academic disciplines than convergence technology that has been mainly focusing on R&D projects related to NBIC(Nano-Bio-Information Technologies and Cognitive Science). Various inter-disciplinary convergence education programs have been developed and applied to engineering classes in universities around the world. However, convergence education programs may have a little different pattern depending on the continental region. The paper compares and analyzes those different patterns in convergence education programs and the supporting policies for them in addition. The paper also seeks for a way of activating and bringing convergence education into the classes of engineering schools in a more systematic manner.
