Preliminary Study on Species Diversity of Ciliate of Ganghwa Tidal Flat

A survey on ciliate fauna of Ganghwa tidal flat was carried out by authors from January, 2008, and 25 species were isolated. Based on observations on both living and protargol impregnated specimens, 15 species, including 2 new species, were identified: Metaurostylopsis incheonensis n. sp. and Holosticha parabradburyae n. sp.; Chlamydodon triquetrus Gong et al., 2005; C. mnemosyne Ehrenberg, 1835; Constylostoma caudatum Spiegel, 1926; C. remanei Spiegel, 1928; Diophrys scutum (Dujardin, 1841) Kahl, 1932; Euplotes minuta Yocum, 1930; E. vannus Müller, 1786; E. woodruffi Gaw, 1939; Holosticha diademata (Rees, 1884) Kahl, 1932; Parallelostrombidium paralatum Xu et al., 2006; Protogastrostyla pulchra (Perejaslawzewa 1886) Gong et al., 2007; Uronychia setigera Calkins, 1902; U. binucleata Young, 1922. Their brief morphology is presented. Other 10 unidentified species, i.e. Anigsteinia sp., Chaenea sp., Loxophyllum sp., Nassula sp., Trachelophyllum sp., c.f. Strombidium sp., Tintinnidium sp. and three scuticociliates species, are also included in this report.
