A generalized preparation protocol of open tubular molecule imprinted polymer (OT- MIP) capillary columns for chiral capillary electrochromatography (CEC) was developed in our laboratory and proved to be useful in preparation of MIP columns with acidic and basic templates in the previous studies. In this study, the generalized protocol has been tested for application to preparation of an OT-MIP column with a neutral template. The formation of 4R, 5S- 4-methyl-5-phenyl-2-oxazolidinone MIP layer was formed by non-covalent thermally initiated polymerization protocol inside a pretreated and silanized fused silica capillary. The template molecule was incorporated with methacrylic acid (MAA), ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EDMA) and 4-styrenesulfonic acid (4-SSA) and dissolved in a porogen mixture of acetonitrile/2-propanol (9/1). In this work, the influence of some parameters such as eluent composition and pH on chiral separation performance of the MIP column has been studied systematically. This study suggests that the pre-established general preparation protocol is also valid for an OT-MIP CEC column with a neutral template.
