A STUDY ON THE PRESSURE ALONG THE POWDER-DIE INTERFACES IN COMPACTION PROCESSES OF METAL POWDERS

In our previous work [1], a plasticity theory was developed for a powdered metal compact. The yield criterion applied to the sintered powdered metals was modified for describing asymmetric behavior of powdered metal compacts in tension and in compression. In the present study, the pressure distribution along the die-powder interface is investigated in long parts. The pressure at various points on the moving and stationary punches, and sidewall of container were investigated by the finite element analysis.
