초록

Ever since appeared in the history of architecture, an aspect of biological application in architectural design has been shifted from mimicking of simple forms and figures to employing of not only the system and dynamics but also genesis and evolution of the organism, in order for transforming into advanced technologies. The study is not a simple examination of formal modification by recombining organism's images and systems, but rather an attempt of investigating the metabolism of biological metamorphosis to verify the possibility of converting urban transportation networks that has been chaotically sprawled, into urban landscape integrated with the existing circumstances. Utilizing and applying the biological property of slime mold(Physarum Polycephalum), the study intends to examine the architectural applicability to an integration of the flow with the city metro networks, in particular, through the computer simulation based on the slime mold's growth pattern. The study aims at extending the architectural association with biology, which has been previously limited in forms or skin structure, to the urban context, movement, material and environmental systems, developing a proper design method that makes architecture integrated organically to urbanism in response to new needs such as extension of infrastructure in urban organization, and suggesting a metro station that not only meets the needs of subway extension in the city, but also integrates with surroundings.
