초록
Freshwater crayfish are well suited for the study of con-servation biology of freshwater systems because they often act as indicator species for stream habitat quality. As Korean crayfishes, Cambaroides similis have suffered from range reductions and habitat degration caused by environmental changes and water pollution, this species is considered to be in need of conservation efforts. Although, the genus Cambaroides belonged to the family Cambaroidae, on the basis of the gill number and the ecological features, it could be placed into the Astacidae by Hobbs (1974)'s suggestion. To pursuit the phylogenetic position of genus Cambaroides in Super-family Astacoidea, we performed sequence comparison analysis using 16S and 28S mitochondrial ribosomal sequences. In this analysis all species in genus Cambaroides (C. dauricus, C. japonicus and C. schrenck and C. similis) and all representative species of extant genus in superfamily Astacoidea were in cluded. In the analyses, the genus Cambaroides was not include in families of Cambaroides and Astacidae neither. Presumably we concluded that a new family name will be needed for genus Cambaroides in Superfamily Astacoidea.
