Film type polishing을 이용한 디스플레이 커버글라스의 edge chamfering 공정에 관한 연구

초록

Due to generalization of using smart mobile and tablet PC, demand of touch screen panel and cover-glass for protecting display increases. Cover-glass is required to increase strength with decreasing thickness. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the strength of cover-glass through polishing process in physical and chemical manufacturing. Generally, grinding wheel is used in polishing process, which causes SSD(subsurface damage) due to mechanical friction and it can affect to decrease strength of cover-glass. Surface roughness of cover-glass edge highly depends on strength of cover-glass, because micro crack in cover-glass edge can cause fracture by stress concentration. Thus, it is necessary to have high quality in surface roughness to increase strength of cover-glass. In this study, to increase edge strength of cover-glass, relationship between edge strength and surface roughness is analyzed. To analyze relationship, abrasive film polishing system is used. Polishing condition to obtain optimum surface roughness in abrasive film polishing is deduced using design of experiment. Next, surface roughness of edge after abrasive film polishing according to abrasive size is analyzed. Finally, 4-point bending test is performed to analyze the relationship between bending strength and surface roughness.
