Introduction of the Korean concrete bridge assessment code under development

초록

A new assessment code for concrete bridges is under development in Korea. Since the current acting design codes for concrete structures in Korea are still based on the deterministic concept rather than the reliability-based approach, the developing assessment code should also march with the deterministic design codes. However, since the design codes for concrete structures in Korea will soon transform to reliability-based ones with requirements on limit states pursuing the international standards, a new assessment code also has to consider such a trend and thus adds the probabilistic approach in the appendix. This paper briefly introduces the key issues considered in developing the assessment code.
