Background: An in-depth understanding of instructors' experience can illustrate the reality of extended reality (XR)-applied education in clinical and educational settings. In this qualitative study, focus group interviews were conducted with nursing instructors experienced in nursing practicum education applied with XR.Methods: Focus group interviews were conducted online from August 12, 2022, to September 2, 2022, and the data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Results: The six theme clusters were "design elements for XR education," "environment for applying XR education," "instructors' preparation and roles," "required support for XR education," "needs and value of XR education," and "disadvantages and limitations of XR education." Conclusion: This study provided primary evidence for the development of nursing practicum education in the digital era post-COVID-19. Based on these results, we suggest that follow-up studies develop various nursing practicum education programs that apply XR and relevant evidence.
