초록

The osteoporosis is a mainly a disease of postmenopausal women. Most of the studies concerning it are focused on that. Musculoskeletal disorder including arthritides is also a important independent risk factor for the osteoporosis and also for the fragility fracture. Therefore the rheumatologist is the physician encountering most of those patients with osteoporosis other than postmenopausal female. Those patients have premenopausal, male, disease related, treatment induced (glucocorticoid induced osteopososis: GIOP), and other secondary osteoporosis. There is not enough evidence about the pathogenesis of the rheumatism associated osteoporosis. In Korea the osteoporosis related to the rheumatism is never discussed officially as a public health problem. In contrast to the ASBMR (American Society of Bone Mineral Research), the Korean rheumatologist is not participating in the bone mineral research work.
