Minimization of Spring-Back in L-bending Process of Oil Tempered Wire

초록

Oil-tempered wire has a high tensile strength and is mainly used for high-precision mechanical springs. Mechanical springs sometimes require special shapes, therefore various machining methods are required. The L-bending process is a one of the manufacture method of springs with various shapes, and a high-precision manufacturing process is required to reduce defective assemblies. The spring-back phenomenon has the greatest influence on the accuracy of the manufacturing process. In this study three design parameters are analyzed to reduce the spring-back phenomenon and the error in the target angle, compared with the normal L-bending method, which only pushes the wire in the horizontal direction.
