Ectopic fascioliasis: Adult fluke of Fasciola hepatica within the abscess of the mesocolon

Fasciola hepatica and Fasciola gigantica are trematode that can infest humans. F. hepatica is commonly found in the liver parenchyma or bile duct of human. We report the first experience of human ectopic fascioliasis that the adult fluke was found in the mesocolon. A 56-year-old female was admitted to a local hospital with discomfort and pain in the left lower quadrant area of the abdomen for 1 month.
