Adaptive Braille Block Detection of Guiding Robot for The Blind

In this paper, we proposed a method for the detection of braille blocks, which are usually used to guide a visually handicapped person. To recognize the Braille block, a CCD color camera is used to distinguish blocks from normal scenes and discriminate between line style and dot style blocks. Using the color information, we extracted Braille block region. For extracted Braille block region, we performed edge detection and Hough transform to find circles and lines. As a result, we effectively detected circles for a dot style block and lines for a line styel block. This experimental results shows the possibility of Braille block based on Guiding Robot
