초록

In this study, we analyzed the electro-optical characteristics of Super IPS-LCDs by using three-dimensional molecular director simulation of liquid crystals in a unit pixel of TFT-LCDs. The simulation results such as transmission profiles over the pixel and the average transmittance as a function of applied voltage show excellently good argreement with the experimental results. From the results of the polar plots of contrast ratio for the Super IPS=LCDs and that for the conventional IPS-LCDs, it is revealed that Super IPS-LCDs have remarkably wide viewing angle characteristics compared with the conventional IPS-LCDs.
